Dynamics and explosiveness are important aspects of kalari practice. In the course of the training process we learn elements of more complex exercises and sequences and prepare our body and mind for their more challenging versions, respecting our limitations and understanding when we are ready to go forward and what we need these challenges for. Each person is different and takes their individual time to progress.

In the practice of kalarippayattu, I take an individual approach to class participants, taking into account their abilities and limitations especially in the areas of strength, mobility and coordination.

At the same time, I really enjoy working with a group, because through synchronized movement a powerful, transformative and integrative energy is generated that supports us all long after the training is over.

When I commit to something, I focus entirely on it and that’s why I love workshops as it’s always a time when we fully dedicate our attention and energy to kalari practice. Of course a regular training routine is very important but once in a while it’s good to have an intense experience that takes us forward and dips in the practice.

A set of exercises that prepare for sequences of m

A set of exercises that prepare for sequences of movements in the southern style of kalarippayatt.
In each of them we aim at maintaining maximum range of motion while changing directions and holding a strong and stable position combined with deep breathing.

Soon we’re going to do them with participants of the workshop in Warsaw: January 11-12, 2025.

W styczniu i lutym harmonogram treningów jest wyjątkowy ze względu na nasz wyjazd do Indii i przerwę od 18 stycznia do 15 lutego, ale przed i po zapraszam na zajęcia dla osób początkujących i zaawansowanych:
🔸wtorki i czwartki 18:30-20:00
🔸wybrane soboty 10:00-11:30
Karnety kupione w styczniu ważne są do końca lutego.

From Kerala, India, to Poland and worldwide throug

From Kerala, India, to Poland and worldwide through online, following kalarippayatt practice.
Recently a student asked me what is the main reason I go to Kerala to study more there. I said: mainly to learn how to teach and to learn new elements of practice, but at the bottom of these both aspects are spirit, energy, attitude, dedication, trust and many other qualities that are not necessarily outspoken yet tangible once you are there, in a kalari.
To carry them, out of their original culture and location, and to combine or adjust to local, non-Indian context is quite a task that I face regularly, always believing it is possible on a universal, human level.
I’m looking forward to practising in India again in just few weeks…

Mijający rok przyniósł wiele doświadczeń i wy

Mijający rok przyniósł wiele doświadczeń i wydarzeń, z których najważniejszym był dla mnie powrót po 2-letniej przerwie do pracy etatowej i łączenie jej z prowadzeniem działalności Studia Kalari. Takie połączenie pozwala mi obecnie funkcjonować najlepiej i wbrew pozorom daje wiele swobody i energii.

Dziękuję za zaufanie i zaangażowanie przede wszystkim uczestnikom regularnych treningów i warsztatów - do zobaczenia na sali! 😊🧡

2025, a przynajmniej jego pierwsza połowa, zapowiada się intensywnie i ekscytująco: zimowa praktyka w Indiach, warsztaty (najbliższe w Warszawie już 11-12 stycznia), szkolenia, spotkania i oczywiście regularna praktyka.
Jestem gotowa 💪

Some excerpts from the online tutorial on basic stick spinning.
These exercises are helpful later in stick combat but can be used also as a general coordination and mobility workout.
For some students stick spinning is quite easy and enjoyable, while for others it can be quite a nightmare as it requires preliminary mobility of wrists, elbows and shoulders combined with understanding directions and transitions.
Similarly to sequences of movements, different ways of stick spinning require specific postures of the body and feet.
